چکیده

Lemon balm and dandelion are commonly used medicinal herbs exhibiting numerous pharmacological activities that beneficial for human health. In this study, we explored the protective effects of a 2:1 (w/w) mixture lemon extracts (MLD) on carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced acute liver injury in mice. CCl4 (0.5 mL/kg; i.p.) injection inhibited body weight gain increased relative weight. Pre-administration MLD (50–200 mg/kg) 7 days prevented these CCl4-mediated changes. addition, histopathological analysis revealed synergistically alleviated hepatocyte degeneration infiltration inflammatory cells. decreased serum aspartate aminotransferase alanine transferase reduced number cells stained positive cleaved caspase-3 poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase, suggesting protects against CCl4-induced hepatic damage via inhibition apoptosis. Moreover, attenuated lipid peroxidation protein nitrosylation by restoring impaired nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2 mRNA levels its dependent antioxidant activities. Furthermore, tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, interleukin-6 liver. Together, results suggest has potential preventing inhibiting apoptosis, oxidative stress, inflammation.

Protective mechanism of andrographolide against carbon tetrachloride-induced acute liver injury in mice.

The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effects of andrographolide (AP), a bioactive component isolated from Andrographis paniculata, on carbon tetrachloride (CCl(4))-induced liver injury as well as the possible mechanisms involved in this protection in mice. Acute liver injury was induced by CCl(4) intoxication in mice. Serum biological analysis, lipid peroxides and antioxidant...

Hepatoprotective properties of Penthorum chinense Pursh against carbon tetrachloride-induced acute liver injury in mice

Background Penthorum chinense Pursh (Penthoraceae, PCP), a well-known Miao ethnomedicine, has been traditionally used to treat several liver-related diseases, such as jaundice and viral hepatitis. The aims of the present study were to evaluate the probable properties of the aqueous extract of PCP on carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced acute liver injury in mice. Methods C57BL/6 mice were oral...

Nos2 deficiency enhances carbon tetrachloride-induced liver injury in aged mice

Objective(s): As a multifunctional molecule, NO has different effects on liver injury. The present work aimed to investigate the effects of Nos2 knockout (KO) on acute liver injury in aged mice treated with carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). Materials and Methods: The acute liver injury model was produced by CCl4 at 10 ml/kg body weight in 24-...

Hepatoprotective effect of cinnamon extracts against carbon tetrachloride induced oxidative stress and liver injury in rats.

Cinnamon is used to flavor most foods in Arabian countries. The aim of this study was to evaluate the medicinal importance, reflecting an important trend in research. The hepatoprotective activity of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of cinnamon was investigated against carbon tetrachloride (CC1(4)) induced lipid peroxidation and hepatic injury in rats. The elevated serum AST and ALT enzymatic act...

Augmenter of liver regeneration protects against carbon tetrachloride-induced liver injury by promoting autophagy in mice

BACKGROUND Augmenter of liver regeneration (ALR) exerts strong hepatoprotective properties in various animal models of liver injury, but its protective mechanisms have not yet been explored. Autophagy is a recently recognized rudimentary cellular response to inflammation and injury. The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that ALR may protect against acute liver injury through the auto...
